Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Welcome @soul
Good evening to you

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Age 6 to 11  in PNG (formative years) @Former-Member and 3 different periods in the NT totalling 19 years.  They say you're a local there if you were there in cyclone Tracy - I was.

Living in PNG was amazing.  My dad was in indigenous education and travelled a lot to remote areas both in PNG and NT.  I went with him a lot.  There would usually be a ceremony to open a new school where he was making a speech and I would be cared for by a local family.  Dressed by them and joined in the local celebratory dances.  These experiences have totally influenced who I've become as an adult.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Has anyone read the book "Angela's Ashes?" I was blown away by the poverty the family endured in that story. It was set in Ireland.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Yup @soul and there is a movie and a sequel Tis.

the mum took it personally ... because somehow it seemed as if he was parodying her ... but he may not have ... but a lot of it seemed close to a lot of other stuff I have seen and heard about .. and what actually adds up.
