Australia/ Have you entered psych ward/care where you had to stay or do you know the field?

Hi. If you know about admission into long term care, this is for you; especially if you have been admitted before or work or study around this.

Specifically, when someone is assessed after going to ED for mental health and they’re held in the temporary (24hrs or 6hours) thing; after that, when you are assessed on whether you can go home or whether you have to go into longer term care- what should you answer in order to be discharged and how long can they keep you for and where? @Doctor4au

Hey @EnteringEDPsych and welcome to the forums

It's completely understandable wanting some answers to these questions as I know the thought of going into hospital and being assessed can be really daunting. Unfortunately, there's no one answer here, it is going to be dependent on your individual situation. In these cases, it's helpful to try not to focus on needing to have the "right" answer, or use someone else's answer, and rather answer in a way that's true to you.

I know that might be frustrating to hear, but we hope that we can support you in other ways. We're here to listen if you want to talk about why this question has come up for you.
