This thread is open to everyone, whether you identify or not.
What did you do to celebrate or recognise NAIDOC week, did you go to any local events
Me and my family did not make it to any major events but we did go to our local cultural centre for a walk and a coffee today which was a good outing for us all
We recently had a baby so it was exciting to take her out safely in the pram to a place that is important to me with our entire family
I really needed it

For NAIDOC week, I spent a lot of time talking to the kids about Indigenous Country and culture. I shared the past history, and the importance of recognising Indigenous people as owners of the land we live on today.
We looked into the Stolen Generations history, and read books about the dreaming etc.
I felt so connected.

Hey all,
I went to VACCHO who had a street party with Welcome and smoking ceremony and a big cookup! There was also music and stalls. Was really great!

Sorry @ArraDreaming @tyme that I have not engaged much with the NAIDOC threads.
My father died in NAIDOC week in 2024.
This is the first year without him
This year's theme is Next Generation - I do not have any children.
When Dad died I felt is was the end of the line.
So I'm finding this year quite difficult.

You don’t have to be sorry bud
You participate however works for you
I understand its a rough time
You don’t have you your own kids to support the next generation there is community programs and ways you can support, if thats a path you want to go down but it’s also ok if not.
Can I ask what about what nation or language group you/your dad are from? @Till23
