Not for a month at least. According to her, I am doing very well.

Re: Numb again

@Pollyotter

Oh dear ... how awful for you.  I am really sorry that happened on Monday.  Little wonder you reacted as you did.

Sounds like they kept you in emergency for a night or two  At least that kept you safe at the time.

But what about now ... what support do you have now that you're home again @Pollyotter ?

Perhaps if you phone or email your MH professional and explain whats happened, they will bring forward your next appointment.  Because clearly you are not doing very well right now at all. 😔  What happened to you was highly triggering, and as you say ... you are now home trying to sleep off the effects.  This is a major set back @Pollyotter , and you would benefit from having some professional assistance.

I'm thinking of you today, and will be around for much of the day.  Please tag me if you need someone to talk to.

Sherry 🤗💕

Re: Numb again

That's not good enough @Pollyotter you need to ring them and try and bring your appointment forward. I completely agree with @Former-Member .

you are not doing well and this has set you back and so I feel it would be best to see someone sooner rather than later my sweets.

I am going to contact her as soon as I can focus on more than 20 mins at a time.

This kind of thing makes me want to stop doing the work that I DO.

Re: Numb again

Okay, thats good @Pollyotter

Let us know how you go in getting an earlier appt. What work do you do? I know I asked b4 but you didnt say then. And if you're not comfortable saying, then thats okay too. But as you brought the subject up, I just thought Id ask again. Wondering if your work is putting you in a vulnerable place right now. Any prospect of a change?

I am a crime scene cleaner and a Charity volunteer. This work is worth it and it is such a rewarding job. I also have the problem that I am not and Citizen so the chances of me getting another job won't be easy. What work do you do?

Re: Numb again

Goodness @Pollyotter ... that would be highly triggering I'd imagine, being a crime scene cleaner.  And a very specialised line of work. I expect that you would be on-call at any time, an as-needed line of work.   At the moment with lockdowns from CoronaVirus and high stress levels for everyone in the world right now, you are dealing with some emotionally and economically stressed people in your volunteer work too.  You really dont get much of a break do you?

I'm glad you find the work rewarding, and worth the stress involved.  Thats an important factor in our work lives.  Yes I am aware you are not a citizen of Aust, and that it would make your situation somewhat precarious when it comes to work.  Especially now that there are so many people out of work and looking for work.

I'm not working at all now @Pollyotter , although I do some community volunteer work in local aged care homes.  Unfortunately they are all closed down currently, due to coronavirus.  So I havent been able to do that for the past couple of months.  Normally I would do that one day a week.  Hoping it may start again soon, because I find it rewarding and a chance to get out of the home for a while.

I used to work in the accounting and admin field, all my working life.  Started working for an accountant when I left school and was there for 11 years.  Then worked for Dept of Foreign affairs and trade for 14 years ... again accounting, cashier, asset control, some overseas stuff as well.  Then I worked for an Agricultural organisation for about 6 years, doing admin and reception type work.  Left that to move North when we sold our farm.  Then I worked for a local school here doing Admin, Bookkeeping, Accounts Payable and Receivable.  When the independant school closed, I then worked for a local hotel/motel.  I loved that because it was lots of variety.  Bookkeeping, accounting, reporting, poker machines, TAB, etc.  It was only part time there, as I started to cut back on my hours as my husband became quite ill.  Then when he was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer about 3 years ago, and was in hospital in the city for months on end, I had to quit work all together.  So now, its just the volunteer work.  I find it hard not working.  I'm no youngster like you though ... I turned 61 a couple of weeks ago.  Nearly retirement age anyway.

I have to go out for a while now .. dropping hubby into town to meet up for lunch with half a dozen of his mates.  I will come home then and wait for the call to go and pick him up again.  Back later. Hope you are doing okay there.

Sherry 💕

I'm sorry things have been this hard for you and your husband. I do hope it gets easier as time goes and you can get back to the old age home . its rather rewarding if it goes off well.

Re: Numb again

Just checking in with you @Pollyotter .

Were you able to get an earlier apt with your MH professional?

Hope you've had a chance for some sleep, and you are coping okay.

Around for a while if you feel like some company.

Sherry 💓
