Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi @Dimity , sorry you regret having got rid of your bamboo stakes. I find those sort of regrets don't help when decluttering.

But it's nice you repotted.

What do you mean about "sedation" causing your difficult mornings?

I went out to get garden stakes and potting mix today, and ended up buying a jasmine plant for the fenceline.

The second dog is a barker, which is a shame.

Yes, I'm interested in the US election too.

Hope you've had an OK day today.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Oh dear @NatureLover a barking dog next door is not good. I'd thought from your last post the second dog was just visiting for a while, not living there.

Jasmine is nice, star jasmine too, if kept within bounds.

My med is somewhat sedating. I can take extra prn if  I feel I'm at risk of relapse because of not sleeping. On the rare occasions I've forgotten to take it the night before I've woken earlier and felt brighter. It does have other adverse side-effects too.

Well it looks as though the US election result is done and dusted after months of anticipation.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

@Dimity both dogs have been here fulltime for 10 days now 😥 I had thought that the dog(s) were part-time at the girlfriend's, but there was a screaming match next door so who knows if the girlfriend is still the girlfriend.

I wanted a star jasmine as apparently they are bushier, but they didn't have any. Oh well...perhaps I should've waited and hunted around. I'm not a savvy shopper 😣

Thanks for explaining the "sedation". My sleeping tablet is actually a sedative for anxiety.

I'm very disappointed in the US election result.

I was out early this morning, hence time to post to you this morning. It feels better.

Good luck today with whatever tasks you would like to do...

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

I'm glad you had a better morning @NatureLover . The dog situation and yelling sound troublesome. I seem to have new neighbours at least one of whom yells in the small hours, while video gaming I presume.

I put out the wrong bins today. Thank goodness I realised and replaced them.

I'm disappointed in the US result too. Relieved the immediate threat of unrest has dissipated but apprehensive of the longer term agenda.

I'm not taking anything specifically for anxiety. In the past I've used progressive relaxation and yoga nidra to settle. I wish I could fix the causes.

My mother had a variegated star jasmine. She had a wonderful garden.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi @Dimity 🙂

Sorry you have a new noisy neighbour! 😥 Do they wake you up?

That's a lot of hauling bins around. Good thing you realised.

It seems possible I'm allergic to the jasmine. A friend is, and she mentioned it to me. Had streaming cold symptoms that mysteriously were gone by next morning. Thank goodness!

The baby tomato plants have survived their first night out in the open from possums. I've got 8 tiny seedlings in 8 large-ish pots. My spinach seedlings are doing well, but I do cover them every night as protection from the possums. They are all together in a raised portable planter, so they're easier to cover than the tomato seedlings.

What is yoga nidra?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

@NatureLover I used to think I was allergic to jasmine. Lately pollen counts have been extreme and I'm taking antihistamines sometimes.

The noisy neighbour hasn't woken me but it's disturbing. I chatted to another newish neighbour tonight.

Last night I saw a brush tail possum on the fence. It hasn't eaten my snapdragons again yet. I don't really mind if it does.

Yoga nidra is a relaxation/mindfulness/visualisation practice you do lying on your back. You can get apps for it.  I haven't done it for ages.

I got a couple of hours' housework done today but not much decluttering.

Good luck with all your tomatoes.  If  you get a good crop you might be able to b preserve some.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

@Dimity Well done on your 2 hours of housework.

I possibly need to invest in some antihistamines too.

Neighbours can make a huge difference, both good and bad. I hope your noisy neighbour desists. Nice you got to chat to a different new neighbour.

My new neighbour just dug a hole for me for the new jasmine! I didn't even ask him to! I was not strong enough, nor was my nice neighbour.

I've definitely caught the gardening bug. Went to Bunnings today for bird proof netting for the tomatoes and more potting mix. This gardening lark is getting a bit expensive! But I spent a few hours this morning sewing together offcuts of shadecloth to lengthen the cover for the baby spinach seedlings, instead of buying more.

The yoga nidra sounds interesting 🤔

Good luck today with your tasks.

Re: An0y diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

That was nice of your neighbour @NatureLover . My neighbour today found something important I'd dropped walking home from the shops yesterday.

Glad you're enjoying the garden. I went to an open garden today and bought a new rose. I'll have to tackle the garden more often, there's a lot to catch up on. But I'm going to lose more sunshine soon because a 2 storey place is going up next door, with virtually no setback.

I hope I can have a productive day tomorrow. I want to chip away at everything but didn't achieve anything today. It was nice to go out.

Re: An0y diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi @Dimity , I just had a terrible fright where I stepped out the door to find the louder dog racing up to me aggressively and barking in my face. I panicked. The girlfriend (?) did nothing. I had to ask her please not to let that happen as I'm very scared. I was already feeling fragile 😣

I'm glad your neighbour found your important item.

And I'm sorry to hear about the 2 storey place going up. I assume months of loud building noise 😥 What is "setback"? Does it mean the distance from the fence line?

What's the name of your new rose?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

I'm shocked @NatureLover I hope you've recovered. If the dog was off leash it's even worse, and the landlord and council should be informed if it happens again.

Yes I meant the distance from the back fence. It seems very small. I'll likely lose most of my view of the sky from the kitchen window.

Don't laugh, the rose is "Tottering by gently", a David Austin rose. Single yellow bush rose. Similar colour to my native frangipani and irises. I'll have to make room for it.

I'm trying to chip away at what needs to be done but tire quickly.  I'll persevere.

Best wishes for your work tomorrow.
