Fair point @Smc

I have freesia and dutch iris and felt that was enough of a gesture. For some reason I resisted the urge to put in tulips. I do have a tulip leadlight lamp in my piano room (not this one). It hangs close to a celtic leadlight that my brother gave me. He made them. That seems well balanced on a thematic, personal heritage and aesthetic level.

Woops that pic was bigger than I expected.

You are very patient @eudemonism.  I am a bit uncertain about a cherry blossom I have that might get tied up in plumbing, but I am reluctant to pull it out.  Growing one from seed can be good and when it gets to the time to plant you can assess the situation or maybe barter it at a market or something ..

Hello @Former-Member @Determined

My mood about the garden varies.  Mine is looking a little dry and worse for wear and I will get to it when my energy is up for it and family and musical commitments reduce.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Appleblossom yea, I got a few seeds out there that I'm wanting to sprout. Need protectors around them though. Because of the dog. Would also really like a chook yard. The weed pile needs mulching.. A couple trees need removing. I need to find a spot for the lemon tree I got in a pot. Somehow it all works out in the end... Eude.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I grew some fringe tulips a deep pink 'Curly Sue' and white 'Honeymoon'  as well as some regular shaped red, yellow and white  tulips.  Two others I have and a fond of  is a light pink 'Rosalie'  and the white edged  'Claudia'

Re: Self care by growing a garden

I grew some red and white tulips so that they would be flowering at Grand Final time, was not overly successful in getting a good colour mix.   Am thinking of trying different flowers.

Has anyone had success growing Iceland poppies? Did you use seed or seedlings?

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Sounds as if you have a bit of space @eudemonism even if not much privacy.  I was lucky in that with a tiny block it was easier to grow climbers all around and be well hidden with a couple tiny trees.  But thinking back to how it was. It takes a long time.  Good Luck Eude.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

@Appleblossom I've noticed that the ants have already started building a nest under the young fig tree I planted the other day. They are good ants which will help the tree from what I can tell. They must of thought it was a good location... I done some research about ants under trees after I discovered them...

Plus, the other night I went outside. And I seen a redback and a black house spider in their webs... Just outside the door... Where the bricks meet the roof... In the gaps between the bricks... And then the next night I went out too look at them again... Because spiders interest me... And I noticed there was a white tip spider... And it was eating the redback spider... So it proved too me... That white tip spiders really do eat other spiders... Interesting right? Eude.
