Re: 2025 - Study Group!

Hey guys,

So at the end of my first day of learning I am in good shape. A lot of my classmates complained of being exhausted both yesterday and today. I am feeling really good and on top of things. I am looking forward to doing some work at home. I already have some assessment questions that I can answer and there is a bunch of reading that I need to do for a different assignment around policies and procedures. So far so good. I thought that I would be overwhelmed and panicking by now but I am actually feeling really good. Looking forward to next week.

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

Niiiice @Oaktree!!

How are the readings, gripping and full of fun facts, or dry and dense as heck? Soemwhere in between? 😋

Well I am working on legal and ethical at the moment. Some people may find it boring but I am weird and am getting into it. I just read The United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and watched a little video they did in 2023 to celebrate 75 years.

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

@Oaktree not weird to me!! But then, I am a monumental oddball so maybe I'm not the best yard stick to measure by 😝

Legit I think I find the whole theory of law and policy and stuff to be quite interesting - just seeing human psychology played out in how we use language to try to create systems of safety, and how those systems can often end up doing quite the opposite....

But then I try to read actual laws and policies and my brain just sends me way too many  ERROR: CANNOT PROCESS and I can't take any more info in 🤣

When I was in high school I excelled in Law Studies. I still remember that

You are not an oddball. Some brains are just wired differently. I wonder if the change makers in Canberra find laws interesting or just part of their jobs?

Psychology can be a very interesting field, just not the way they teach it at university. What makes people tick?

My homework is exploring the differences and similarities of legal and ethical frameworks.

Now I am moving on to comparing Un’s Declaration of Human Rights with Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

Teehee @Oaktree you know... since I was a kid, I've been called weird, odd, strange, etc, almost every day by someone, or at least once by most people I'd ever met. I got to a point in my early 20's where I realised that it probably wasn't going to stop, so I had a choice - I could resist it and be ashamed and miserable every time I hear it, or I can embrace it and make it my armour.

And now it is just that. No one can cut me down with those words because I am a weirdo! An oddball! A misfit! And I don't care who knows it, cos life is more interesting that way anyway 😊

Mainly this is just me thinking about labels generally by the way hun, I know you were being kind and I appreciate it muchly 😉💜

OOOO this has definitely piqued my interest!! Lemme know if anything interesting comes up that you feel could be worth a share!!

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

@Jynx

I believe that Maslow’s needs are also human rights, however in comparing with UN’s Declaration of Human Rights to there is only loose association between the two. Self esteem relates to article 18 and safety and security, article 3

Re: 2025 - Study Group!

@Oaktree and I bet nothing in UN about the 'belonging' category, like protections for communities and a right to access social connections?

Been a big theme in my mind of late, community - and how it seems to be so missing from our world today.

maybe we could petition the UN to include belonging.
